SFHK Fully Implements APP Notifications to Replace SMS Alerts Joins Hands with Anti-Deception Coordination Centre (ADCC) to Urge Public: Download the Official Mobile App
-
(Hong Kong, 14 April 2025) To effectively protect the public from fraudulent SMS and phishing websites, SF Express (Hong Kong) Limited (“SFHK”) announced today that it will phase out SMS notifications for parcel collection. All self-pickup alerts will now be sent exclusively via the official “SFHK APP” to reduce the risk of customers falling victim to counterfeit messages. SFHK and the Hong Kong Police Force’s Anti-Deception Coordination Centre (ADCC) have jointly launched a series of anti-fraud campaigns, urging the public to download the “SFHK APP” for real-time parcel updates and enhanced security. Additionally, SFHK is leveraging its extensive resources, including delivery fleets, packaging materials, self-service lockers, and SF Stores, to promote anti-fraud awareness and combat the surge in scams.
Rising SMS Scams Prompt SFHK-ADCC Collaboration
According to police data, online shopping fraud cases handled by ADCC in 2024 increased by 29%, with losses exceeding HKD 3.5 million. Over the past three years, SFHK received 4,036 scam reports or suspected cases, of which 72.7% involved SMS fraud. In the first quarter of 2025 alone, SFHK recorded over 800 scam-related inquiries, a fourfold increase compared to the same period last year. Fraudsters often impersonate SFHK via SMS, claiming incomplete delivery addresses or additional fees to trick victims into sharing personal data or making illegal transfers. To mitigate risks, SFHK will cease SMS pickup alerts and transition fully to SFHK APP notifications.
Ms. Theodora Lee, Superintendent of Police at Anti-Deception Coordination Centre stated: “We commend SFHK’s effort to halt SMS notifications, setting a strong industry precedent to raise public vigilance against counterfeit messages. Our collaboration aims to empower citizens to scrutinize suspicious links and adopt the ‘SFHK APP’ as a secure alternative.”
Ms. Charlize Liu, Head of Public Affairs and Communications at SFHK, stated: “Since last August, we have progressively replaced SMS with the ‘SFHK APP’. After an 8-month transition, we are now fully implementing this measure. Customers must enable push notifications after downloading and registering to ensure timely alerts. The APP also allows users to track parcels, view shipment details, and access value-added services.”

Comprehensive Promotion of Anti-Fraud Information, Coverage Includes SFHK Fleet, Stores, and All Packaging Materials.
In addition to optimizing message delivery measures, SFHK has actively assisted the Police Force in promoting anti-fraud information in recent years. This includes adding fraud prevention alerts and links to download the "Scameter+" app on the SFHK app and website, enhancing the public's ability to recognize online traps. Furthermore, anti-fraud information videos produced by the police are being broadcasted on SF Media televisions in nearly 100 SF Stores, and over 300 SFHK operational vehicles across Hong Kong are displaying anti-fraud advertisements. Additionally, the "Anti-deception Enquiry Hotline 18222" is featured on all SFHK packaging boxes, bags, and document seals. SFHK is also actively participating in anti-fraud initiatives launched by government departments, including the "Anti-Scam Consumer Protection Charter" introduced by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Hong Kong Association of Banks, aimed at increasing public awareness about protecting credit cards and personal information.
Be Cautious of False Information, Always Verify Through Official Platforms
