SFHK Partners with Booksellers and Schools to Launch a New Textbook Delivery Model No Need to Pick Up at School, Textbooks Delivered Directly to Homes
-
(Hong Kong, August 21, 2024) As the new school year approaches, parents and students are busy purchasing textbooks. The time-consuming and labor-intensive process of picking up books in limited-space bookstores has long been a pain point for booksellers, parents, and students. To simplify the textbook ordering process, S.F. Express (Hong Kong) Limited (hereinafter referred to as "SFHK") announced a partnership with several major booksellers, including SUP Retail (Hong Kong) Limited, to launch the logistics solutions for school. This new model breaks the traditional “book hunting” mode, providing textbook delivery services to nearly 90% of primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong. Textbooks ordered online or through schools will be delivered directly to homes, eliminating the need to pick up at school.
No Need for “Book Hunting”, Leading the New Model of Textbook Delivery
To make it easier for parents and students to order textbooks, SFHK collaborates with major booksellers to deliver textbooks ordered from school book lists or online directly to homes. Parents and students only need to select SFHK’s delivery service on the book list or ordering webpage and fill in the delivery address. The textbooks can be delivered as soon as the same day. Ms. Charlize Liu, Head of Public Affairs & Communications at SFHK, said, “Earlier, due to the impact of the pandemic, students were unable to return to school to pick up books, which prompted the idea of textbook delivery services. Subsequently, we received interest from several booksellers in developing a new textbook sales model, leading to the creation of a thoughtful and flexible textbook delivery solution. Parents and students can choose to have the entire set of textbooks delivered directly to their homes or pick them up at over 1,000 SFHK self-service points across Hong Kong, including SF lockers. Textbooks that are not yet published will be delivered to schools after the start of the school year, alleviating concerns.”
Traditional Booksellers: Alleviating Manpower, Transportation, and Storage Pressure, Providing Flexible Book Purchasing Options
Traditionally, booksellers need to prepare manpower, transportation, and store storage resources in advance to provide the corresponding textbook collection. While hiring summer workers is difficult, and store storage space is limited. Consolidated local retail business by Joint Publishing, Chung Hwa and The Commercial Press, SUP Retail (Hong Kong) Limited is one of the largest textbook suppliers in Hong Kong, providing textbook ordering services to nearly 450 primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong. Mr. Ernest Kan, Deputy General Manager at SUP Retail (Hong Kong) Limited, said, “Since partnering with SFHK, we have not only alleviated our manpower and storage space issues but also provided more options for parents and students, improving the process and efficiency. With a delivery fee of just HKD 68, parents and students no longer need to hunt for their textbooks. The usage of textbook delivery has increased year by year, with the number of orders doubling during the summer of 2023. We believe more parents will choose textbook delivery services this year.”
Working Parents: No Need to Coordinate Time, Flexible and Easy Pickup
Mr. Chan, a working parent with a son and a daughter, pointed out that in the past, he had to accompany his children to buy textbooks in different bookstores. His eldest son is about to enter secondary school this year, increasing the number of textbooks. The total number of textbooks for his two children is nearly 60. He said that some unpublished textbooks need to be collected separately, “I once failed to buy all the textbooks before the start of the school year, which was very stressful. SFHK’s textbook delivery service allows us to receive nearly 10 kilograms of books at home.” He no longer needs to take leave from work to buy textbooks, saving time to participate in summer activities with his children.
Paying Attention to Market Demand, Continuously Providing Diversified Logistics Solutions for School
Ms. Charlize Liu, Head of Public Affairs & Communications at SFHK, said, “Since the launch of SFHK’s textbook delivery, the response from bookseller customers has been enthusiastic. As the school delivery model becomes more popular, the company is targeting market demand and industry conditions, continuously partnering with school uniform suppliers and tutoring centers to provide school uniform delivery and exchange, mock exam paper delivery, and other courier services, offering more thoughtful and convenient school logistics solutions for manufacturers, parents, and students.”
